To all officials and volunteers,

Queensland Canoeing Inc. will be hosting the 2009 Australian Canoe Marathon Championships over 10 to 12 April 2009 at Lake Kawana on the Sunshine Coast.

To make this event a success we rely on numerous volunteers across a variety of roles. Some of these require accredited officials whilst many of the roles do not require such qualifications other than keenness and a sense of willingness to assist.

Assistance will be required from the Friday 10 April through to Sunday 12 April at a time of your choosing.

On Friday 10 April assistance will be required with registration of competitors and the sale of merchandise and championship dinner tickets.  Times required are from 9:00am to 12:30pm or 12:30pm to 4:00pm.

There are 3 sessions of racing on Saturday 11 April and volunteers are required for either 7:00am to 10:30am, 10:00am to 1:30pm or 1:00pm to 4:30pm.

The first session of racing on the Saturday will involve all under 16 and all veteran competitors.  The second session will involve the selection age groups and classes for men international canoes and women classes.  The third session is for all other men selection age groups and classes.

To finish the championships there will be 2 sessions of racing on Sunday with volunteers required for 7:00am to 11:00am and 10:30am to 2:00pm.

The first session is for all under 16 and veteran age groups.  The second session will involve selection age groups and classes of K2Õs and C2Õs.

Volunteers will be provided with a brief job description before the championships, times required, resources required to perform their function, water, food and t-shirt/s.  Other items may be provided should they become available.  A briefing for all officials and volunteers will be held at 3:00pm on Friday 10 April at the championship venue.

If you are interested or willing to assist at the championships could you contact Jerry Dunn on 07 3283 1034 or 041 606 1865 or e-mail marathon@paddle.org.au
