2019 Marathon World Championships short course – Australian selection event

As many of you are aware the ICF has approved the inclusion of a short distance event at the Marathon World Championships in 2019.

The short distance event consists of three laps with two portages for a total distance of approximately 3.4 km. There is approximately 500 m between the turns, with the first portage after ~1 km. The distance may vary due to circumstances at the course. The event is held for Open age men’s K1, women’s K1, men’s C1 and women’s C1.

Paddle Australia has determined that the selection event for Australian representatives will be the Sprint GP2 event to be held at Penrith on 8th-10th February 2019.

The entry fee for the Short Course Marathon event is $25 per athlete (this does not include entry into GP2). Entries into GP2 include the Short Course Marathon Event at no extra charge.

To my knowledge the selection criteria have not yet been published. We shall publish these as soon as we have received them.
