Queen’s Birthday Weekend  Development Camp and Penrith Whitewater Cup.

Date : June 8th, 9th, 10th

Location – Penrith Whitewater Stadium

This camp is for all slalom paddlers interested in developing and furthering their skills on whitewater.

The focus of this camp is to provide a setting that encompasses training from junior to elite level, incorporating junior, masters and senior paddlers. It is open to all states and offers 2 pump and 5 pump sessions. This camp provides a pathway for juniors through to elite paddlers to build confidence and reduce fear. The 2 pump sessions offer the opportunity to introduce juniors to Penrith Whitewater Stadium and allow coaches to gradually step paddlers up to different levels based on their ability.

Penrith Whitewater Cup

We have added this competition on the last day of the camp to provide our paddlers more practice at racing on the Penrith course. This course is quite long and technically difficult.  We will hold a Flatwater Race for all participants who feel they are not up to competing on this course at full pump. This will also offer opportunities to parents to learn more about running a competition by helping out on judging, timing & running start & finish.

2 pump sessions participants will require a signed permission from their state coach to attend, outlining their competency in wet exit and participants must have at least 12 months paddling experience and will only be moved to the top sections of course if competent at rolling.

To ensure all paddlers are placed in the appropriate sessions for their skill set, camp officials will liaise with state coaches and place paddlers in sessions they feel are appropriate for their level. These placements will be re-assessed during each session over the camp and paddlers may be moved up or down accordingly, with this decision being based on the camp co-ordinator and coaches assessments on both 2 pump and full pump sessions.
