2020 Murray Quad cancelled due to Covid-19
This weekend marks four months until the scheduled 2020 Murray Quad, but with the current border closures due to the COVID-19 lockdown and no idea of what lies ahead the Yarrawonga Mulwala Amateur Canoe Club has no option but to cancel this year’s event.
The 2020 Murray Quad was planned for the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of November with a number of changes proposed to make the event more attractive for both elite athletes and the weekend warriors, but these changes will have to wait until 2021.
In the past the Murray Quad has supported both local and international charity groups such as HeartKids, Channel 4 Change and Save the Children through it’s connecting with community campaign and for the 2020 one of the changes proposed as an exercising shorter single day format to support a new charity partner the Stroke Foundation to promote their FAST signs of Stroke.
Our race Director Tim Roadley has created his own virtual challenge called the “FAST4” keeping with the Quad theme. Tim’s “FAST 4” for stroke initially involves running the four major distances in July – 5km, 10km, Half Marathon and Marathon and continuing with extra challenges for the remaining quadrathlon sports throughout the rest of 2020, with the aim to raise awareness of stroke in the local community along with funds for programs to support stroke survivors and their families
