2021 VICTORIAN CANOE SLALOM AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS Replacement Event For the 2021 Paddle Australia Canoe Slalom Age Championships EVENT DETAILS

15 – 17th January, Goulburn River, Eildon

Due to the cancellation of the 2021 Paddle Australia Canoe Slalom Age Championships as a result of the Covid situation in NSW, Paddle Victoria are now running the 2021 Victorian Canoe Slalom Age Championships in its place.  This event will be run at the same time and place in a similar format to the PA event and is open to all paddlers from around the country who are able to attend.

Anyone who entered the Paddle Australia Event through Go-Membership will be contacted directly with advice on refunds and registering for the new event. The entry fee for the new event has been reduced to $60 per paddler.

Entry and Payment

Entries close 6th Jan 2021.  Late entries will be accepted after that date at the organizers discretion and will attract a late fee of $20.

Camping at OEG

There will be camping available at OEG for tents and caravans/campers. The OEG campsite is located next to the Eildon Riverside Holiday resort and provides direct river access for plenty of kayaking. The dining & kitchen block provides refrigeration and full cooking options inside with BBQs outside. A shower & toilet block is shared amongst campers. We will use OEG for the Vic BBQ Dinner on Saturday night, so access to the kitchen will be restricted on that night. Campervans and caravans can only set up in the paddock to prevent compacting of the tent area.

The fee is $30/person/night with discounts for family groups (details on Trybooking).  When booking specify the number of nights you are staying for the applicable category. Children 8y.o. or under do not attract a charge.

BBQ Dinner

Come and join us for a delicious BBQ dinner under the stars at the OEG site. Meet up with old friends and make some new ones as we enjoy a night off cooking in a covid safe environment. BBQ meat, choice of 3 salads, hot potatoes and bread rolls are on the menu. BYO drinks & there will be tables set up but please bring a chair with you to enable safe spacing. Adults $20 and Children 10 & under $10.

Slalom Training Camp

In the lead up to the event a slalom training camp is being held on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (12th-14th Jan)

The camp is being organized by Warwick Draper with the assistance of senior coaches from MCC.  The course will cover White Water technique, Race Preparation and will include video review.  There will be 5 sessions over the 3 days.  The cost is $160. The camp is open to all paddlers.

Training on the Course Prior to the Event

Prior to the Friday, free practice is available on the course.  Access to the course and parking is available through the OEG paddock from Tuesday 12th Jan, prior to that access is available through the Eildon Riverside Holiday Park with the purchase of a day pass for a small fee.  Practice on the Friday has been grouped into sessions, see the Competition Guide for details.

Judges Course

A Judges Course will be run by Jill Bassett on Friday 15th.  This is open to all and is free.  Those interested in attending should register their interest with an email to Jill at jill.bassett@paddle.org.au  It is expected the course will run on the Friday morning (15th) TBC

First Aid Course

There will no longer be a First Aid Course run at the event.  It is proposed to run one in the first part of 2021 in Melbourne for coaches and volunteers.
