Cancellation of Murray Classic marathon race, Sunday, 17th January 2021

Dear paddlers,

Unfortunately the Murray Classic marathon race, scheduled for Sunday, 17th January 2021 in Yarrawonga, has been cancelled due to COVID-19 border restrictions.

The border restrictions have resulted in accommodation in Yarrawonga being booked out for the school holiday period because accommodation on the NSW side of the border is inaccessible to Victorian travellers.

The Murray Classic will instead be held as the Winter Series 2 race in Yarrawonga on Sunday, 30th May.

We understand your disappointment with this disruption to marathon racing.  NSW has also had to cancel its first event of the year due to COVID issues in Sydney.

The next PV Marathon event will be the Victorian Short Course Marathon Championships at Nagambie on Saturday, 30th January, being held in conjunction with the Victorian Sprint Championships.  This will be followed by the first long distance marathon race, the Saltwater Classic, at Footscray Canoe Club on Sunday, 7th February.  We continue to monitor the situation with regards to the Frank Harrison race in Albury on Saturday and Sunday, 13th/14th February.
