With four races done (Short Course Champs, Saltwater Classic, Vic Champs singles and Vic Champs doubles) MLC has taken a significant lead, with 591 points, ahead of Bendigo on 423 and PLCC on 237.
How did they get so far in front? By putting lots of junior paddlers on the water at three of the four races.
But can they stay in front? With the two day Frank Harrison race next weekend and the summer school racing term drawing to a close other clubs will be chasing first place.
Remember, the 2021 points system rewards participation: the more paddlers from your club each race the more points. New paddlers and junior paddlers earn bonus points, as do entering the bonus classes and supporting races away from home.
There are fourteen more races to go, so the lead is likely to change. You know what you need to do if you want your club to be on the top of the leaderboard.
