KING RIVER SLALOM SUNDAY 14th AUGUST 2022 AND RIVER TRIP SATURDAY 13th AUGUST: UPDATE

KING RIVER SLALOM SUNDAY 14th AUGUST 2022 AND RIVER TRIP SATURDAY 13th AUGUST: UPDATE

The river conditions are looking good with the river flowing at a “good” level (currently 1.03 at the Cheshunt gauge) with more rain forecast for the next few days.

As previously advised:

This event will be run more as a training event rather than a race.  The intention is to maximise the opportunity for paddling on white-water with gates.  On Saturday 13th August 2019 the course will be set up at the slalom rapid commencing at 2:00 followed by free practice on the course.  On Sunday from 9:00 to 12:00 there will be unlimited timed runs.  Help in setting up and dismantling the course will be needed to make this all happen.

There is no booking or registration required, or entry fee, however, if you are planning on being there it would be helpful if you could email vicslalomtechcommittee@gmail.com and advise if you will be there for the Saturday and/or Sunday so we have some idea of numbers.

On the same week-end Ivanhoe Grammar School are running their regular camp and river trip on the Saturday. Paddlers are welcome to join their river trip, the briefing will be at 10am at the Lake Hovell Spillway or if raining at the King River Camp.

Ivanhoe Grammar School book out the “King River Camp” for their accommodation.  Non IGS people may (to be confirmed) be able to stay there (bunks) with dinner on the Saturday evening.  If you are interested in this option please contact David Gibbs at IGS (david.gibbs@ivanhoe.com.au) for costs and further details.

The river levels are currently low but edging towards good, forecast rain is likely to improve this.  Look out for any additional information and updates that may be posted here or on the PV website late next week
