The Ben Ward Memorial 40 Miler Canoe race was held over the weekend in Yarrawonga and Cobram. The weekend of racing was structured as two one-day events, the traditional Ben Ward Memorial race on Saturday and a new loop-format race on Sunday.
Hosted by Cobram Barooga Canoe Club, the event saw over 80 boats racing across the weekend with support crews cheering from the bank. Congratulations to all the paddlers for their efforts, with special mention to Thomas Camfield who was awarded the perpetual Ben Ward trophy for 2014.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to run and organise the event, extending to the paddlers, friends and family who came along to support and participate in the competition.
Next year’s race will be held over the weekend of 12 and 13th of December, so put it in your diaries and spread the word!
