Paddle Victoria Marathon Club Points after Race 6

Fairfield Canoe Club has taken the lead from INCC in the 2019 Winter Series Club points.

That goes to show what herding the cats can do, with Fairfield entering eight paddlers in the WS6 race at Wodonga on the weekend to INCC’s two, delivering 566 points for the weekend and a 130 point advantage going into the final race. Barwon Heads also put in a strong showing, with four paddlers and a podium finish for each of the three events. A good performance from the host club, Mitta Mitta, and Essendon saw both these clubs move up the ladder. The rest of the clubs slipped back, with none of their paddlers ready, willing or able to leave home and enjoy a weekend in the country. Thank you to Mitta Mitta for running a great weekend, including hosting the dinner on Saturday night and providing lunch on Sunday.

While on the subject of participation we ask all clubs to avoid scheduling club paddles on the days of Summer and Winter Series races. The race calendar is published a year in advance, so you all know when these events are on. A lot of work goes into organizing races and we need your support to deliver a high quality experience for all participants. If you want paddlers to support the races you host then lead by example.

The Winter Series moves to the final race with the Echuca Mini on Saturday, 12th October.
