Paddle Victoria Marathon Racing update August 2020

Dear Marathon Paddlers,
This note is to provide you with an update on the plans to recommence marathon racing in Victoria.
As a result of current restrictions to manage the response to COVID-19 in Victoria the Winter Series Race 5 and Race 6,  planned for Sunday, 16th August and Sunday, 6th September respectively, have been cancelled.
In addition, due to the current border and quarantine restrictions with NSW we have, in conjunction with Echuca Moama Canoe Club, cancelled the Echuca Mini, planned for  Saturday, 10th October.
The Bendigo Canoe Club is continuing to prepare for the Bendigo Cup Marathon event on Saturday, 17th October and we hope that circumstances in Victoria have improved sufficiently by then to restart competitive sport.

I recognize the cancellations are disappointing news, especially to those of you who have continued to train over the past months in preparation for a return to racing.  Whilst this is a setback don’t stop paddling now; stick with it and work within the restrictions that apply to where you live.  We shall continue to work with the relevant authorities to restart racing as soon as possible.
