Southern Cup Slalom Series

SOUTHERN CUP SLALOM SERIES A GREAT SUCCESS

The Southern Cup events were well received with the last two events at the Goulburn River in Eildon, Vic, putting the icing on the cake. The events were well organized and low stress, with great weather and original courses. These items made for an exciting weekend of racing, culminating with the awards ceremony and presentation of the largest trophies presented for slalom in Australia.

The greatest competition was seen in the Mens and ladies U16 Kayak classes, and these were hotly contested, with quite a few upsets at the finish.  Mens Kayak 1^st place trophies were awarded to Warwick Draper and Jaxon Merrit; Womens Kayak 1^st place trophies to Dita Pahl and Loren Kluwer. We are currently working toward and even better event for 2008-2009 season, with talk of having competitors from New Zealand, the US and Iran.
