Victorian Canoe Slalom Champioships 2007

A very successful Victorian Slalom Championship event concluded last weekend at the Goulburn course, near Eildon. The Victorian Slalom Technical Committee would like to congratulate all of the competitors for the great racing over the two days and thank the many parents and friends for their very valued assistance in the running of the event This includes our colleagues from N.S.W. who made the journey to deliver kids and friends and to provide their valuable assistance.

A really pleasing aspect of the event was the larger number of junior paddlers involved – 20 Junior Mens K1 including an U10 Mens K1 class and 15 Junior Ladies K1. We had both a male and female U12 C1 paddler compete – hopefully something we can see grow in future years – and two Junior Ladies C2 boats on the water.

The Number 1 ranked paddlers for the competition  were:

Warwick Draper  Senior K1 Men
Sarah Grant  Senior K1 Women
Christian Fabris  Senior C1 Men
Tim Feben & Tom Baker Gabb  Senior C2 Men
Sarah Grant & Leanne Guinea  Senior C2 Women

Maddy Thoms Senior C1 Women
Sebastian Ewing  Junior K1 Men
Jessica Fox  Junior K1 Women
John Hardman  Junior C1 Men
Adam McNiell & Tim Anderson  Junior C2 Men

Whilst not competing in a fully constituted class for the Championships, we could also recognise the achievements of :

Lydia Toms  Junior C1 Women
Rosie Arnold & Jessica Bunting  Junior C2 Women
