Victorians compete in Ocean Racing World Cup

On the 1st of July a number of Victorian athletes competed in the Mauritius Ocean Racing World Series Event and International Canoe Federation World Cup.

For some this was a challenge and their first experience racing in big ocean swell and for others it was a chance to compete against the worlds best. A Victorian athlete who competed was Wendy Reyntjes who was defending her title from the year before, Wendy finished in an impressive 3rd place against a tough field of competitors.

For all Victorian athletes involved it was a great learning experience with some noticeable performance, especially Wendy who came 3rd in the womens event and Steven Owens who came top 50 in the mens event.

All people involved agreed that it was a terrific event and a great experience to paddle in big ocean swell that isn’t always available when paddling in Victoria, to learn more about this race please visit the event website page on Facebook by clicking here.
