A small but high quality field of hardy paddlers braved icey temperatures(minus 4 degrees at 8am) to compete at the Big River Slalom over the weekend! Despite the cold weather, there was some excellent racing on a 12 gate course that made good use of the river features.
It was great to see coaches Alan and Joseph Robinson showing they still have the speed with the two fastest times of the day! And congratulations to the outright handicap race podium finishers:
1st | Ryan Hogg | 61.28 |
2nd | Daniel Shamieh | 63.27 |
3rd | Ian McCutchan | 63.74 |
Some competitors didn’t back themselves enough to enter the prize money race, which was taken out by the in form Ian McCutchan, followed by Eugene Stackpole in second and Kaylen Bassett in third place.
A big thank you to all the volunteers, officials and chefs for making this race possible and very enjoyable! See you at the King River Slalom August 15/16!
