Australian Canoeing’s State Development Squad initiative recognises and supports the country’s top emerging athletes in the sprint and paracanoe disciplines. The Squads will operate on a state-based mini-camps framework, with one-day camps held every two months. The selected athletes will receive high quality coaching and development experiences, including interaction with national team coaches and performance support staff. Athletes will be exposed to high performance practice environments and behaviours in order to accelerate development and prepare for transition to more advances stages of the athlete pathway.

This initiative is aimed to simultaneously support those leading the athletes, with State Development Squad coaches invited to participate in a range of opportunities to enhance their own expertise and effectiveness.

For enquiries regarding the State Development Squads, please contact Australian Canoeing National Pathway Manager, Melissa Hopwood at Melissa.hopwood@paddle.org.au

More information on the program including other state squads can be found on the Australian Canoeing website.
