Qualifying for a Solution 2008 Yarra Series trophy is an honour; requiring committment to competing in a number of events against a number of competitors in a class.

The Solution Yarra Series events were hosted this year by Melbourne Canoe Club under the aegis of the Victorian Slalom Technical Committee. The Yarra Series provide an opportunity for paddlers to compete in a supportive environment and to benefit from the ability to compete against Olympians, past Olympians as well as members of the Australian National teams – both Senior and Junior. The organising committee were gratified to see the increase in participation of our ladies as well as in our C1 and C2 classes. This bodes well for our future in Australia.

The organising committee would like to acknowledge our principal sponsor, Solution, and particular Wayne Thomas. Your support – in terms of the tents for protection from sun and inclement weather as well as the many quality prizes that our competitors were very grateful to receive – made the carnival a very good experience for all.

We would also like to acknowledge the support of the many parents and paddlers that contributed to running the events – in pre-race day course set-up and in the many roles required on race day. Without your support these events could not run.

The STC and Melbourne Canoe Club look forward to everyone's attendance at the 2009 Yarra Series events. Please look to your Calendar.
